Export doesn't backup all emails

I'm running Entourage 2004 on OSX 10.4.11. I regularly archive my email to
keep the Entourage database from getting too big. I have my emails sorted in
folders and I simply drag the folder to my backup drive where it creates a
mbox file and then delete the folder within Entourage. As a test, I
reimported the mbox file and I noticed that not all of the emails were
there. In one case 1/3 of them were gone. I work in an office and this has
happened to 2 of us today. Any thoughts on this?

Well several things come to my mind...
- what version of Entourage are you using? Is it up to date (Office
11.3.9, ENtourage 11.3.6)
- what type of account are you backing up?? (I'm not 100% sure, but I
suspect Excahnge data is not being backed-up - and I suspect it's the
same for Hotmail accounts)
- did you try rebuilding your database? It could be corrupted.

When you drag a folder to the desktop to create an MBOX file, it will not
copy any subfolders.

If you do a custom mail view for mail you want archived, you can drag that
folder to the desktop and get all of your emails in one MBOX file.

What type of account?

If it's exchange, you might want to check out this script:

AutoArchive Exchange Account to "On My Computer"

Move all e-mail older than 60 days (time can be adjusted) from your Exchange
account folders to archive folders within the "On My Computer" folder tree.
