I am trying to export a copy of the addresses of a particular group
(not all contacts) so that someone can create a database for a
neighborhood group. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance!

Do not open the group but select it in the Address Book and drag it to
either a new Word document or the top left cell of a new Excel worksheet,
whichever will be more useful. (Probably the Excel worksheet, if someone
wants to make a database from it.) That puts each group member (Name and
<email address>) on its own line (Word) or row/cell (Excel).

If, for some reason you wanted to make a comma-delimited text file instead,
you'd copy (cmd-C) the selected group entry in the address book (again,
don't open the group and paste into a text editor. It also works in Word,
but then remember to Save As -> Text Only. In TextEdit. Format->Make Plain
Text, and save. That will also open in Excel after saving.

FileMaker Pro can import Excel files and also comma-delimited text files.
