EXPORT MY CONTACT FROM OUTLOOK

F

Fiona Bloom

I CONVERTED TO MAC. I JUST GOT A NEW IBOOK G4 RUNNING PANTHER AND AM USING
ENTOURAGE X NOW.
I WOULD LIKE TO TRANSFER ALL MY CONTACTS AND OTHER INFO/FOLDERS FROM OUTLOOK
TO MY NEW
ENTOURAGE. HOW DO I DO THAT. AT THE VERY LEAST, I WOULD LIKE TO EXPORT MY
CONTACT FROM OUTLOOK TO MY ADDRESSES IN ENTOURAGE. I THOUGH I COULD JUST
ATTACH MY CONTACTS IN OUTLOOK TO AN EMAIL AND SEND TO MYSELF. THAT WORKS
GOING THE OTHER WAY AROUND, BUT NOT FROM PC TO MAC.
HELP/!?!

I am also changing from Outlook XP version to Entouage on the Mac. I
called Microsoft and asked tech support to hlp me make the exchange from
one of their family of products to another and was very disappointed in the
2 hour process that left my contacts fragmented and unusable without
manual reconstruction. I only see a couple of options: PocketMac which
might use my iPac to move contacts in the sych process; or, rebuilding. I
have 2400 contacts and am hoping for the PocketMAC process or to find
something else that will work. Let me know if you find something....

PS This iMac G5 is great! But as a dedicated Microsoft user for 12 years, I
am very disappointed that they can't, or choose not to, help to move data
between their own programs!

For notes, tasks, contacts, and calendar events, check out Paul Berkowitz's
"Export-Import Entourage" script package.

Regarding mail, see this information:
This page has a pretty clear tutorial for moving mail from Outlook to
Entourage.
<http://www.riches.com.au/articles/export-outlook-entourage.htm>

Outlook2Mac advertises that it can automate the same procedure. However,
some users have noted that contacts, calendar events, and tasks don't always
transfer properly.

Alternatively, you can use an IMAP server to transfer mail. You can get a
free IMAP account at <http://www.bluebottle.com/>. Create folders matching
your local folder structure on the IMAP server. Drag-copy messages from
Outlook to similarly-named IMAP server folders. Go to Entourage and access
the the same IMAP account. Drag-copy messages from the server folders to
similarly-named local folders. If necessary, delete messages from server,
go back to the exporting program and repeat the process as often as
necessary until done.

I am having the same problem, saved all my folders and contacts as a
..pst file but couldnt get entourage to import them, then I tried
comma-delimited files for all my folders but the mapping didnt work.
So now I am going to try to get my outlook to put all my stuff on the
company exchange server and then suck it in to entourage. Anybody
tried this? -Trevor
