You can, but it requires the use of an advanced feature of Project,
namely VBA, or a query directly on the Project database.

If you are interested in the VBA approach, I have a couple of macros
that export the Notes field to Excel. You can contact me direct for more
information.

Hello, I'm interested in the macros you describe. I am specifically
looking for a way to export notes on a per task basis or at least
preserve some association of which notes belong to which task.

If I could export the contents of the notes associated with a task as
part of a "map" I use to save off .mpp data into .csv format, then I'd
be in high cotton.

Thanks in advance,
Adam

Adam,
High cotton must be good right? I've never heard that term before.

The macros I have export the Notes text to Excel but if you have some
VBA experience it is a simple matter to export to .csv format. If you
want more information, write me direct.

John,

I'm afraid I'm not clever enough to even know what to do with such a macro.

(Aside: Seems to me that if it is so easily solved with a simple macro that
is already written, that it could be easily incorporated into the product.)

Perhaps you can give me some guidance? I would certainly appreciate it and
so would others, I am sure.

Jim,
Yes, I agree that a Notes field export could be incorporated into
Project (along with a whole lot of other requests from users). And, I
have seen enough requests (and received several e-mails) for this type
of utility that it might be something the developers at Microsoft are
considering - I don't know.

Meanwhile, you may write me direct (e-mail) and I will give you more
information about the macros I have including how to load and run them.

John, I am sure I am missing something very obvious, but how do I contact you
directly? Should I be able to find an e-mail address for you?

Jim,
My address should show up in the header of the message (at least it does
with my newsreader). However, here is my e-mail (eliminate obvious
redundant characters).

John,

I tried to e-mail you and was not successful. Can you provide the macro &
instructions to be able to export the full Task Notes field?

Thanks,
Joe

The Notes field is a displayable field in Project and does not require a
macro. You can simply copy what you want and paste it into Excel with
everything correlated. You can also save as Excel and specify Notes as one of
the fields to include.

I have a suggestion, provide a way to remove bad posts. I realized that the
topic of this suggestion was to correct the truncation that occurs for
character 256 and subsequent when copying viewing or exporting.
