Exporting Calendar Question

Jack

Hi,

Is there some way of exporting, say, just 1 year's worth of calendar events,
or do you have to export the whole thing?

Thanks!

Is there some way of exporting, say, just 1 year's worth of calendar events,
or do you have to export the whole thing?

There are two ways:

1) If you have Entourage 2004, you can first go into the "All Events"
calendar view (in calendar area) and sort by date. Shift-click top and
bottom event within the date limits you want to select all in between. Then
go to Edit/Categories/Assign Categories, and make and assign a new category
(e.g. "Export") by checking it, but _do not_ click "Make Primary" button.
Unfortunately this will not include recurring events (such as birthdays)
whose first occurrence is earlier but are still continuing: custom views do
not show every occurrence but only the first occurrence of recurring events,
and don't even show up with a "recurring" icon in the view. So make a new
Custom View for calendar events (only) where the criterion is "Recurrence Is
Any" (or Yearly, or whatever is appropriate) , and select all (then
command-click individual items to de-select them if you wish) and apply the
Export category to these too, without making it Primary. Then export
Calendar events of Export category only.

2) Get my shareware Export-Import Entourage scripts from

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

and run Calendar Export from X script, choosing to export "All Events from a
Specified Time Frame": that will include and export just the recurring
events which have occurrences in the time frame (as well as non-recurring
events, of course). You do not need to make any preparatory efforts. It
exports to a single text file, which can be imported into other Entourage
identities, Excel, converted for import to other programs, etc.
