Exporting contacts as CSV

Is there a way to either export my contact list as CSV, or to convert
it to CSV from the .txt file?

The simplest way is to open the tabbed .txt file in Excel and then Save As
CSV.

But if there's a particular reason as to why you need CSV, tell us. For
example, certain websites like Yahoo and Hotmail address book actually
require Windows CSV files as exported by Outlook Windows, with Outlook field
headers and sometimes even in the right order. If that's the case, then the
Entourage export files converted to CSV won't work. There are other ways to
do it then. On the other hand if it's an importer that lets you match up
field headers then you might be OK.

Yes - I need the CSV format to import the contact list into Earthlink
Webmail. I think I'm using Office 2001 - the Entourage is v.10.6.1.
Thanks for your help -

If Entourage is 10.1.6 then it's Office X.

Try the way I suggested via Excel. If it doesn't work properly, you can get
my Export-Import Entourage X scripts (shareware) from

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

Read the Outlook section on exporting to Yahoo and Hotmail address books.
The same will work for Earthlink Webmail.

Paul,

I export into a text file and use the converter, but the fields show up as
FIELD 1, FIELD 2, etc. and matching into Outlook is near impossible.

I ended up just printing a PDF of my contacts and using that on the PC. I
like your scripts though, they worked for all my PC » Mac OS X transfers.

Thanks.

Using Mac OS X with Entourage X. Want to import contacts to csv file so I
can import to MSN contacts. Your scripts gave me a EvX.txt file that would
not import to MSN. Advice?

You need to read the "Outlook" section of the ReadMe, There's a paragraph
especially for export to MSN (i.e. Hotmail) and Yahoo.

You've only done step 1. now you need to drag that .txt file onto the EvX
Contacts to Outlook converter script in the Outlook Converters subfolder,
after first running the Satimage installer as the ReadMe says. That will
convert it to a Windows Outlook-type of .csv file that MSN will import. It
only takes a few seconds.
