Does anybody know how to transfer an address book from ms
office 97 or 98 (in which the data files are outlook.pst
files) to Office in Windows XP Home Edition?

You copy *.pst - burn or whatever - to new sys, ensure read only is off.
Then in OL, File/Open/Personal Folders .... browse to pst

Just to be clear -- Office does not come with Windows XP Home Edition. If
you bought your PC with Office preinstalled, you will need to determine
which version of Office you have -- open any Office product and click Help,
About <program name>. It will be easier for you to find answers to future
problems if you know which version you are running. For now, DL's reply to
you should solve your current issue.
