Exporting mail from Entourage X to Outlook 2003

Hi,

I have a client who until recently has been using Entourage X and has
now have to adapt to a Windows XP Pro machine with Office 2003
installed on it.

I tried converting the In folder etc. to mbox files but of course
Outlook doesn't like those.

We don't run Exchange server here so I can't go that route. Any
ideas on how to convert the messages over?

Not a very straightforward method, but it should work: create a folder on
you client's Mac, then select all the messages you'd like to export and drag
them to that folder. You will now have individual .eml message files, one
for every email message. Outlook Express can read this .eml file format, so
transfer this folder to the Windows machine and drag all the files into
Outlook Express. Once you've done that, you should be able to import these
messages into Outlook by using Outlook's import function (I can't give you
detailed instructions on how to that as I've never used Outlook before).

Will this work with Outlook (as opposed to Outlook Express as quoted in
your reply)?

As far as I know, Outlook cannot read .eml messages, you will need Outlook
Express for that. In case my earlier reply was not exactly clear: you will
only need Outlook Express as an intermediary. Once you have your email
messages transferred to Outlook Express, you can use Outlook to import your
Outlook Express emails, since Outlook can read Outlook Express's database.
If anything's unclear, post back.
