I am using MAC OSX and Entourage and would like to export my
contacts in a CSV format. I use Earthlink as my email provider and
when on the road do not have the same access to all my contacts/
addresses. The only way I was told (by Earthlink) to get all my contacts
from Entourage imported into my webmail was to have the exported
file converted somehow to a CSV format. Rght now, you can only
export contacts as a .txt file, I don't want to have to transfer all my
email back to my PC ( which I hate) so I can use Outlook, which does
let you export in various flie formats. Is there another way to export
from Entourage in the CSV format? Thanks.

There are many ways. Presumably if you have Entourage, you also have Excel.
Import the tab-delimited .txt file into Excel. (The best way to do that is
Data/Get External Data/Import Text File, but File/Open will also work OK.)
Then immediately Save As Cooma Separated Value file, and there you are.

Paul,
Thank you very much. I should have thought of that. Thank you though.

Paul,
I did what you suggested and was able to save the txt file in Excel
perfectly. Then I saved it as a CSV file (they give you 3 options
CSV(Windows) , CSV and CSV OS/2 DOS) I tried all three and saved them to my
desktop, but none of them worked. When I went to Earthlink to import the
files from my desktop, I got an error message that said, "The File
uploaded does not appear to be a valid Outlook CSV address book file." When
I check my Earthlink Webmail address book, there were new entries. Any
other suggestions?

OK. What they're looking for is the correct Outlook Header line (and perhaps
the correct Windows CRLF line-endings). I suggest you now get my shareware
scripts "Export-Import Entourage X" at

MacScripter.net <http://scriptbuilders.net/>

Use the Contacts-Groups Export from X script in the script menu to export
all contacts, then the EvX Contacts to Outlook script application in the
Outlook Converters folder to convert the Contact Export EvX.txt file (made
by the first script) to a CSV file that the earthlink importer will accept.
Read the Installation, script menu and Outlook (Export to Outlook) sections
of the ReadMe.

You were given incorrect information. You do not need to export your
information to CSV format to import Entourage data into EarthLink WebMail.
Note: You do need OS X 10.2+ and EarthLink TotalAccess 2004 (free) for the
other method. <http://www.earthlink.net/home/software/mac/>.

Begin by exporting your contacts to Apple's Address Book application. You
can do that by a variety of methods, all described here:
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/faqs.html#Anchor-127>
(I would recommend Option #1 or Option #4)

Then, install and open EarthLink TotalAccess 2004. Click the envelope icon,
and press the "Sync" button. That will upload all of your contacts to
EarthLink WebMail.
