exporting to excel- error message ODBC error in MS Excel Translato

trying to export contacts to excel. got the following error message:
[Microsoft] [ODBC excel driver] the msft jet database engine could not find
object "contacts". Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name &
path correctly. -- shouldn't have been any trouble with spelling and path
since I selected this option on screen- did not spell anything out.
please help!
