Extra lines appear when I insert an item(e-mail) into Contacts

I have used Outlook in several versions-presently 2003 and have this problem
but never have figure it out.

When I insert an item in contacts and I select an e-mail from my inbox, sent
items, etc., the e-mail always comes in with extra paragraph returns that
aren't in the original e-mail. I have to delete these returns and it is very
frustrating.

My question: Is there any way to prevent this extra returns from appearing?
Does this have to do with the format of the original e-mail? Is there a
setting that I have turned on to produce this result?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I posted this yesterday in the Contacts Newsgroup but no one posted a
response. I figured one of you Outlook gurus out there knows the answer so
I'm trying this newsgroup:)
