Extract Email addresses from "Microsoft User Data"

Entourage has been telling me it cannot access my database ... that I
have to rebuild.
Even after doing so several times and reinstalling Office twice I am
still encountering these problems .. unable to run Entourage with
access to my stored data.

I have moved the "Microsoft User Data" folder out of my documents
location to the desktop to allow Entourage to build a new "Microsoft
User Data" folder which now of course is blank - no emails, no
addresses.

Now ...

I have resigned myself that my email content history is ... well,
history. However, I really would like to go in and extract my email
addresses from my old Microsoft User Data folder - is this possible?

Thank you.

Probably not, if you can't even start entourage with the old database :(

If you can get it started, try to 'export' contacts to a text file - you may
get some/all of them.

Make sure you update Entourage/Office when you re-install the software
package, otherwise you might have problems opening the database. You can
find links to the latest updates here:
<http://home.earthlink.net/~mickey.stevens/tutorials/update.html>

Then try moving your "Microsoft User Data" folder back to the "Documents"
folder to see if you can open or rebuild your database.

If you still have no luck, you may be able to open the "Database" file in
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office <version> Identities/<Your Identity>
using a text editor, and then use the Find feature to look for the "@"
symbol. This should probably be a last resort, since it can take a while to
open the Database file and record the addresses. In the future, be sure to
back up regularly!

In the future, please state which version of Entourage you're using.

See if Apple's Mail will import the addresses. If you can get them out of
Entourage with Mail, you can import them back into your new Identity.
