Extreme delays in Entourage 2004 v11.3.6

I have just started experiencing extreme delays in Entourage 2004 v11.3.6.
Delays of about 40 seconds when changing the Contact search choice field
from Name to Company or visa versa are common. Also switching views from
Mail to Contacts or visa versa causes this delay. I have verified, compacted
and rebuilt my database. All else is working fine. Any ideas would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since Entourage worked previously, you need to find what has changed. Is it
Entourage or your User's folder?

To quickly test Entourage, create a new Identity and try switching windows.
Does the problem exist? If yes, then this indicates it's not your current
Identity. See these options to improve performance:

ance>

See the FAQs for performance issues for more clues.

Post back if you continue to have problems.

Thanks for the feedback. Nice to know what solved your problem.

Thanks for the assist. Following your link (
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/performance.html#pre1 ) I did the
following:
1) Why is it taking so long to open my Address Book?

Once it opens, click on the name column to re-sort your contacts. That should
cause Entourage to re-sort the list and speed things up.

This did the trick. Thanks again.

A folder containing my wife's email inbound account got accidentally deleted
(yes, she deleted it and then emptied the trash...)

Is there a way to recover that folder and messages as can be done with some
utilities in Outlook Express?

Please??

Thank you for any help you can offer!!

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do within Entourage if you've deleted
the folder from the Trash. You may be able to open the Database file in a
text editor and salvage some of the information though.

Any chance you rebuilt your database not so long ago?? If you did, then
Entourage kept a copy of the old database where you could find the
folder in the state it was when the rebuilt was performed.

Figgers I wouldn't have compacted/rebuilt the database. Thanks for the idea
but looks likes she's hooped. Where are old copies stored?

Look in the User's Document folder. Inside the Microsoft User Data folder
you'll find the Office Identities folder.

Office 2004 Identities
Main Identity
Main Identity [Backed up 2007-08-09 16.56]

Use a task to remind you to backup. Simply duplicating your Identity will
save you a lot of grief.
