file conversion ms-dos scrambles layout

I use a DOS program. I output an invoice "form" with data and name the file
with a .doc extension. I open in Word and use the MS-DOS option to convert
the file. This worked correctly until today. Today it is trying to squeeze
the data to a smaller page. ? I also notice today that in Outlook, the cursor
is starting in the center of the first line, rather than at the left. I think
this is related.
I am using Word 2003 SP2. Can anyone help??

I think your Normal.dot template has been damaged.

Find that file (Look in the Help under "Normal template" and it will tell
you where it should be), quit Word and re-name Normal.dot to Normal.old.

Word will create a new Normal.dot when it next starts, and things should
come right again.

Cheers
