FILE OPEN DIALOG - CHANGE VIEW

I posted earlier posts regarding this and couldn't find a solution. I
have since just about lost my head but never gave up in trying to solve
my problem. I thought I should post this solution on how to change your
file open dialog to change your view to the details view using the
SendKeys commands. Thanx to everyone out there advising about the
sendkeys although I had to figure out which keys to be pressed. There
were many similar questions and never a suitable solution. Hope this
helps everyone.

With Dialogs(wdDialogFileOpen)
SendKeys "%(L)"
SendKeys "{Left}"
SendKeys "(D)"
.Show
End With

Why not just configure Windows Explorer to use Details mode? -- then
FileOpen uses it by default.

We use policies on our network for different sets of people and the
policy doesn't save the changes made. That means I would have to edit
the policy for each group and not sure whether the settings will be
saved. It wouldn't work on two of the workstations and if I control it
through word, they work on the same templates then it always works in
word.

Damn sight easier to do that than trying to distribute macros on a corporate
network with policies in place.

Sorry didn't see when I retyped with the caps and stuff. Herewith
updated one:

With Dialogs(wdDialogFileOpen)
SendKeys "%l"
SendKeys "{Left}"
SendKeys "d"
.Show
End With

The sendkeys statements are not directly part of the Dialog: it simply puts
keystrokes into the message queue, for some other function to make use of.
Simpler coding is ---

SendKeys "%(L){Left}(D)"
Dialogs(wdDialogFileOpen).Show
