Files in prior versions stop newer offcie programmes

I have noticed that after opening a word 6/95 document, that the office 2000
applications want to re-install. Is there a fix for this? It seems that
when the 'old' document is opened it is resetting part of the registry and
making it appear that 2000 is not properly installed.

Hi David-

Does this happen if you are in Word and use the File>Open command, when you
double-click the file icon, or both?

I opened the old documents from my CD backup and then saved them to a folder
on the HD for later use. Whilst doing this a client needed an answer to a
query from MS Project, so I opened up the MS Project file and MS wanted to
"install 2000" again and I had to find the Office CD and let MS do it's
thing. This only happens after opening the older documents.
