Files sizes between Excel and PowerPoint

I'm scared you'll count this as a numty question, but I've searched for
similar and can't find any ...

When I copy a chart from an Excel workbook into a PowerPoint presentation,
the presentation grows in size by about 25% of the workbook size. So to stop
it getting too huge when copying charts from an elephantine workbook, I must
copy the charts to a new workbook, and then from that to the presentation. I
don't mind doing the work, and linking is unnecessary, but I would like to
understand why this happens. Please can someone tell me?

Thank you too! I did what Suvodip's article and your message said and it
worked nicely. The bit I'd wanted to learn was the 'Ungroup' instruction to
cast away the bullfighting Ole! stuff - I'd thought Ungrouping was purely to
break up pictures

Jonathan,
Just to make sure you know - The wondrous PPT FAQ is Steve's baby. We all
contribute, but it's on his site and his wondrous effort that keeps it
up-to-date and available for all of us to use.

That said - I am going to take this chance to offer (once again) my thanks
to Steve for keeping the FAQ going and up-to-date. THANKS STEVE!
