filter sum

I have a cost sheet with lots of products in from different manufacturers.
I then created a worksheet for an order to these manufacturers, using the
autofilter to select which manufacturer I would like.
However when I insert a total at the bottom of the order and use the 'sum'
formulae it totals up the costs for every manufacturer not just the ones i
filtered.
What can I do?

Use the SUBTOTAL worksheet function when you want to sum,
count, average, etc. data that has had a filter applied
to it. The XL help file is pretty straightforward on its
use.
