Find Function

I have a file that I import that contains "****" in some
of the cells. I'm trying to write a find and remove
function for these cells, but when I do this it removes
everything. I've also found that if I try to "find" these
characters the find function take me to every populated
cell. I'm guessing that "*" represents something other
that it's face value. Any help in how to write a find and
remove function, or simply explain how I can designate
these characters individually.
