Find problem

Hello,

New user here on Entourage X, v10.1.4. When I do a "Find" using More
Options, and search a folder of mail for "Message Body Contains" with my
search criteria, the Search Results window always comes up empty, regardless
of what search term I use. I even tried the word "the" and the letter "a"
with no results. Probably something stupid I'm doing, but I cant figure it
out.

Any clues?

Dan Dixon

Just noticed something: this problem only occurs when I'm doing the "Find"
search on the deleted items folder (currently with 175 items) and only when
using "More Options" to define criteria. If I search any other folder it
works fine, and if I just use the basic find (without "More Options") it
works fine.

Something's wrong with the search function, it seems.

Hi Dan,

Is there any chance that your Deleted Items folder is set (on the View menu)
to show Unread Only or Flagged Only?

I'm pretty sure it's a bug. Try it yourself.

I don't see that in Entourage 10.1.4 on my machine... It could also be
an issue with the folder that has been selected for the search. I just
tried "the" in all my folders and the applciation could not stop filling
up the result window...

Try just the Deleted Items folder. I believe Entourage is trying to be smart
and won't search the Deleted Items folder when doing an "all folders"
search. However, it's not smart enough to turn this off when searching just
deleted items.

It's also strange that the search works properly if one goes to Edit ->
Advanced Find, but not if one goes to Edit -> Find, clicks the "More
Options" button, and sets up an identical query.
