Finding Duplicates

J

Joe Gieder

I'm trying to find duplicate entries within my
spreadsheet and I see many others asking a similar
question and being directed to:
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/duplicat.htm#
but my problem comes in when the part number is listed
as, 123/4-4 and the duplicate entry can be any number of
ways, ie.. 123-4-4, 1234-4, 12344, 123/4/4, 12-344 etc..
can a search be done that would eliminate the -, / or
what ever other special type character is placed within,
also the - and / could also be in different places. Also
could I possibly include a second column of data to help
match example here would be a description.

TIA for your help
Joe

=SUBSTITUTE(A1,"-","")+0
will eliminate the -
=SUBSTITUTE(A1,"/","")+0
/ for you.
