"fit to page" in MS Office Document Imaging

G

Gordon

I am trying to print *.tif files from MS Office Document Imaging version
11.0.1897.0, and I can't get the "fit to page" feature of the Print Options
screen to function. My images are only coming out at 4.5"x5.5" on 8.5"x11"
paper.

I am using a HP OfficeJet 7130 printer, but I don't see anything on the
printer setup screen that should conflict. Other info: Sony Vaio PCG-GRT100
laptop running Windows XP and Office 2003

Any ideas?

Not sure of the problem, since I don't print from Doc Imaging...but
you might want to copy the image and drop it into a Word doc. Word
does a great job of letting you resize images while keeping the
resolution. You could drag it out to fit the page.

Hi Gordon,

It's a bug in the Office 2003 Document Imaging program.
There's a free hotfix available by phoning Microsoft
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;895122&FR=1

I have a follow-up problem. I applied the hotfix and the print "fit to page"
option works, but it would not automatically fit images that are best suited
for landscape format in landscape format. It would print “fit to pageâ€
everything in portrait format. Do you have a solution for this?

Hi T.T.,

If you print a Word document with alternating sections
of Portrait-Landscape-Portrait to the MS Office Document
Imaging Writer (printer) and right click on the thumbnail
and choose 'properties' each page should show the correct
rotation or dimensions even if the thumbnails all appear
to be 'portrait'.

Check the [x] autorotate setting in
Tools=>Options=>OCR

If they're printing all in portrait after that you may
need to check the capabilities or properties for orientation
of your printer/printer driver. The mixed pages printed
correctly on both the HP and non HP printers I tested on.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, the printing problem is still not
fixed. I tried checking the autorotate setting and printing to an HP
printer, but that didn’t work. Prior to upgrading to Office 2003 SP1, it was
printing the mixed pages correctly. Do you have any other suggestions as to
what is causing the problem?

What version of Office are you running? Did you applied the hotfix?

Thanks.

Hi T.T.,

Have you tried a different driver or turning off
the spooling option in the printer properties?

I'm not able to reproduce the problem on the HP
printers I tested.

You may want to try a repair reinstall of Office
from the Windows control panel as well.

The Office 2003 I'm using is up to date.
