Fixing forgotten passwords

Our office recently found a Word doc that we need to
access; however the document is password protected and
the employee who created/knew the password is long gone.

Is there anyway to get around the password protection in
place so that we can access the contents of the file?

If it is a document protected against *opening*, then your chances of
getting into it are slim and extremely time consuming. There is a suggestion
for a password cracking application listed on the favourites page of my web
site that will work - eventually.
