flag column

i am working with MSP 2003 and would likle to know about flag ooptioons.

i dont understand for what and how the flag column can be used. basically i
dont understand what is flag for?
please thoro some light oon this problem.

Most common use is for reporting. For example, if you need to produce a
report for management and they only want specific tasks reported on, set
Flag1 to Yes for each task they want to see. Create a filter that only shows
tasks with Flag1=Yes then you can apply the filter, print the Gantt chart
and your report is done!!

that helps me a lot, before this i was very confused with this flag option.
after practcing your answer i have one more doubt. after using filter for
Flag 1, isit possible to print a report withoout haviing a column showing a
Flag 1. otherwise it may arise confusion to the management.

Certainly. You can create a new table and view, Insert the column, set the
values in the column and then switch back to your original view (which does
not show the flag column) and print. Unlike excel, a column does not need to
be visible to be used to filter on.
