Flashing Cells then FP stops responding

I've recently upgraded to fp 2003 - I am having a problem with tables
I am using layout table as the main page layout - within this table I have several normal tables- when I try to merge cells or add rows within these normal tables - the highlighted cells just keep flashing and the program stops responing. This seems to occur more oftain if there is text in the cells. I have re-installed FP but the problem remains. Could it be because I hame mixing layout and normal tables. Would adding many more layout table increase the size of the page too much

but it may indicate a video card drive issue

1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card, and directX
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
6) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks

Thanks for that - it has helped alot
I have worked through most of those steps (unable to update Driver - it wont install the update) I still have a problem with merging cells - the cells keep flashing frantically until I click somewhere on the page - FP does respond though. Should I maybe consider a new video card?
