"Flashing" lights can trigger seizures in some folks.
Just a hunch, but it seems like you are describing "what" you want to do to
solve a problem, but not "why". What business need are you trying to solve
with your flashing command button?
I'm with Jeff on this. The main use of flashing controls is to annoy users.
Think about web pages you have been to that do that.
