folder darkening with new messages

I rely on folders which receive filtered messages becoming darker
when new messages arrive. For some reason lately there is practically
no visible darkening of the folders even though they contain new
messages. I've checked the relevant box in Entourage 2004 preferences.
I use New York font size 18. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Entourage bolds the font of the folder name, and also appends a number
indicating the number of unread messages. Perhaps you should try a different
font. I just switched to Gill Sans recently, and I really like it a lot.

I too rely on rules to send various emails to their appropriate folders that I
have created within my inbox. I have found that the emails come through to
my inbox for a split second and then has a rule applied and moves the
message to the required folder. It remains bold (unread) for about 2 minutes
then become unbold (as if read) by itself. I have since turned off all of my
rules and the messages coming into my inbox remain bold and unread until
I have clicked on them as is normal.
I'm wondering whether the rules have to be applied on the server side and
not through Entourage as the rules on the server cannot be changed
through Entrouage.
Anybody have any ideas?

Kindest regards

Thanks for asking this!

I was annoyed by the problem but didn't think there was a fix (partly
because I hadn't thought to think about it).

Gill Sans works so much better. Won't tell you what I was using, but it was
worse than NY. :)

Best,

- Bill
