folders inside folders didn't transfer during v.X -> 2004upgrade ?!

My upgrade tonight from v.X to 2004, the folder hierarchy only transferred
at the highest level. Any folder where I had another folder inside did not
transfer.

In v.X, there are triangle icons to the left of any folder that has folders
inside them, and you click to expand and see the content. I see none of
these with 2004.

They should be there - I suggest you go back in to vX and do a database
rebuild, then try a re-import into 2004 again.

Barry - thanks for quickly confirming it should work, and to try a rebuild!

I did a regular Rebuild, then a Safe Boot, then a SuperDuper! copy to an
external LaCie drive, then installed Tiger on the new internal drive, then
transferred the SuperDuper! copy to the new Tiger drive.

Before doing the 2004 upgrade, I pulled up Entourage v.x, from Tiger, and
everything was fine - all folder structure and files appeared intact (I do
have many folders, and folders in folders, but they all looked fine).

Then I upgraded to Office 2004, applied all updates through Nov. 2007, then
pulled up Entourage... there was no difference from before. :-( Only the
top level folders were present that I've created inside my Inbox. Everything
else was gone. Also, there's a strange artifact present in 5 of the 6 icon
panes in the upper left - only the Custom Views icon (lower right) looks
okay, the other 5 have a strange image that looks like an attempt to through
an error.

Any ideas? I could try an Advanced Rebuild and then do the same as listed
above.

Are there any limits in Office 2004 to the number of folders, or the total
number of folders? Should I thin them out to below a certain number?

Thanks again for any pointers or insights you might have!

In Entourage X try moving your folders to subfolders of the Inbox. Seems
there was something strange about exporting folders that weren't part of the
Inbox.

Hi Diane,

Thanks for your response! The folders are already subfolders within the
Inbox. The only folders that remain after the v.X -> 2004 upgrade are those
immediately below the Inbox - nothing below that appears at all.

So, options I've thought of include:
1) do an Advanced Rebuild and then repeat the entire v.X -> 2004 upgrade
2) find out if there are any limits on the # of folders and subfolders, then
thin out and remove enough until I am under the threshold, then do the v.X
-> 2004 upgrade
3) ?

Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Drag those folders to the desktop as MBOX files. You can drag them into the
folder list of 2004.
