FONT Color always blank. Needs reset all the time

I am encountering for the first time in years a strange but annoying
phenomenon. The font color is always blank and must each time be reset to
black automatic. I can set it to different fonts, different colors and hit
OK, but the next time a document needs to be reset and the typing becomes
"invisible".

This is with windows XP Pro and MSWord 2003.

Any comments or ideas?

Are you using a template of any kind? if the font colour is set to
blank in the template, this may be why it keeps be reset.

OK then it may be that your Normal.dot has got the font colour set to
white as default. First of all close Word. Locate your normal.dot by
clicking on Start, Search for files and folders type in the box
Normal.dot and in the Search In Folder, type c:\. Once you have
located your normal.dot, right click it and choose Open. The
Normal.dot will open in Word. Click on Format, Font and change the
font colour. Click on Ok. Click on File Save and close the Normal.dot
then close Word. Now run Word, create a new document and the font
should be whatever you set it to.

I tried everything and nothing seemed to work.

So, my final solution that did work was this:

Uninstall MS Office 2003 completely via Control Panel.

Then delete all reference to MS OFFICE in the registry and finally install
all of OFFICE 2003 Pro again. It automatically found my backed up PST file
and all my addresses, folders and thousands of messages are again there, all
perfectly clear to read this time.

Problem solved.
