Has anyone else experienced backward compatibility issues
between different versions of Word similar to the
following?
I created a document in Word 2002 (Office XP) using
page "x of y" in the footer. A colleague opened the same
document in Word 97 and the auto-numbering for page "y"
reverted to "1" on all pages instead of auto-numbering
based on total pages in document (there were 3 pages in
the document). To resolve this problem, I had the
colleague go into the document footer in Word 97 and
reinsert the field coding for page "y", but this is not an
optimal solution.
Any ideas on how to prevent this from occurring in the
future?
Thanks!
