Forcing Entourage Sync

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

Hi guys,

I have been looking for the answer to this in these forums but can't find a solution.

I am using a hosted Exchange 2007 account with Entourage 2008, and generally it works just fine but I can't force it to sync. For example, if I delete an email its not clear how soon that change will appear up on the Exchange server. Same if I create a calendar event its not immediately replicated up on the server and I don't know how to force it.

I hope that makes sense and that someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

In the folder list, right-click (Ctrl-click) the root of your exchange
account. The command is right there,

Hi Corentin, thanks for your reply.

I have tried doing what you suggest already and then when I go look at the exchange server either via OWA or iPhone the changes still havent been synced up to the server from Entourage. Am I doing something wrong or have something set wrong?

Cheers

Not sure if this will help but it's worth a try...

Use Syncrospector from the Apple Developers Software.
/Developer/Applications/Utilities

Click on the Sync button and this should do the trick.

You can download Xcode (995.8 MB) free after you create a free ADC
Membership.

Thanks for the reply Diane.. Unless I'm missing something though your answer seem to be referring to the sync between Entourage and the Apple apps (address book, ical) and my problem is the syncing between Entourage and Exchange 2007 Server...

I'm relatively new to the Mac so I may be missing something.

We're going to have to wait on one of the Exchange experts to help then.
I've hardly used Exchange so it's way out of area of expertise.

BTW, did you see about the new beta for Entourage 2008 this month using
Exchange Web Services?

Ok thanks, I hope someone has an answer because I use this for running my business and I am never 100% sure that the changes I have made during the day are sent to to the server.

Yes I did hear about the new beta thats coming, I'm really looking forward to this...

No need to right-click your account to sync. You can right-click just
the mail folder itself, such as Sent Items or your Inbox, and
synchronize just that. It's must faster and more reliable.

Hope this helps!

Hi William, thanks for your reply..

So each time I say update my calendar I should always right click it and update, do you find this always works? I have been playing with this over the weekend and it seems that it doesn't work every time. I'm guessing these are the only options though, I really can't wait for the EWS update..

I'm not experiencing the problem you're seeing so I don't have to
continually update by right-clicking. However, if I've just sent a
message or created a post while at home and need to shutdown my computer
right away then I will do this method to ensure I can see my messages at
work.

Thanks for that William, I will do the same. I think from what you are all saying is that Entourage simply doesnt make immediate updates to the server like Outlook does. I have seen that it does upload the changes I make if its left for a few miutes.

Heres hoping that the new EWS version manages this alot better.
