Forcing entourage to send local data to the exchange serverduring sync instead of over writing local

Hey all,

I accidentally deleted my entire exchange calendar. I use entourage to
manage my exchange account. I have a back-up of the main identity file from
just before the delete. Great, right? Sure, except that when I swap out the
current (without calendar data) main identity with the back-up main identity
(with calendar data), the data populates the calendar, but then gets wiped
when entourage syncs with the exchange server. Specifically, the data
disappears when syncing is at the "Updating sync issues" stage (as noted in
the lower right hand corner of entourage during sync).

Neither I or my IT girl can sort out how to force entourage to use the local
calendar data instead of the blank server calendar data.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Colleen

Hi Colleen!

Try this (be careful and back up your new data first):

If your computer is plugged in with an Ethernet cable then unplug it. If
you use wireless then turn it off. This will prevent Entourage from
connecting to your server.

Open your backup identity and set Entourage menu --> Work Offline. You
can now plug back in to your network or enable your wireless.

Use a Calendar View on the left to find All Events. Select all of your
Exchange events (sort by folder) and drag them to the Calendar under "On
My Computer". You're essentially creating a copy of the events.

Set Entourage to Work Online and allow items to sync. I expect your
calendar events will disappear again.

Use the Custom View again to find your events, select all of them and
then drag them back to your Exchange Calendar. This should copy your
events up to the server.

Hope this helps!
