form field keyword update

I am using keyword for fields in some documents (Word 2002). I go to the properties/summary/keyword and edit the keyword to the new keyword I want. I select all, the hit F9 to update fields. This will typically update all the fields in the text of the document, but not the footers. I have to manually enter the footer in each section and update them. The problem is that while working, the keyword will revert back to the original keyword, without any additional input from me. This has worked for me for the past 3-4 years, on the last 2 versions of word, in these same exact documents.
Any suggestions how to amke the keyword stay changed?
