Form/Rpt design tools for FP2000?

Is there a cheap product that I can use that will let me design web
pages with the same ease that I can create layouts on forms and reports
in Access 2000?
I really like the "drag and drop" method, along with the alignment tools
in Access 2000; but designing an equivalent form in FP is awful.
Any creative suggestions welcomed.

You're comparing apples and oranges here. Access is a desktop application
that draws itself. A web page is a document that the host browser draws, and
the result will vary in terms of how it looks, depending upon the browser
used, the settings on the client machine, and the size of the browser
window.

A desktop app will always look the same. A web page will almost always look
different.

Hi

I don't think that's what Steve meant. I think he meant a program that would
make form creation very easy.

Three suggestions:
- download webmatrix from microsoft and learn ASP. This is a lightweight
product that runs on the .NET framework.
http://www.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=6&tabid=41

- download VisualStudio Web Express and learn a little ASP.NET This the big
brother of webmatrix. http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/vwd/default.aspx

- create Access Data Pages. Not as powerful as the other two

- download PEAR with the QuickFormBuilder and learn PHP. http://pear.php.net

Unfortunately there is learning involved.

Michiel

Hello again. Yes Michiel, you are correct.
I was/am hoping to find a product that will let me place the page
elements wherever my mouse drops them. At the moment, I am using Tables
in FP2000; but my problem lies in formatting columns of different
lengths and widths alongside each other.
To boil it down, does anyone know how I could design a form in Access
and have it be used on the web as a static report?
If you want to see what I am goofing with, please go to my website at
www.countyrealty.com and search for residential homes (left margin, near
top) and use the login of "steve" and pwd of "please" with no quotes.
Search for all homes priced within a range you select. When the roster
pops up, select a home (link) with a picture. This will invoke the
"....details.asp....." page. When this page paints, change the
"details" in the url to details01c.asp and leave the rest of the url
alone. (site redesigning/under construction)
This is the page I want to jockey images, text, and other elements with
the goal of a "tighter" page. I can accomplish this easily with Access
form and report design tools, but I am having a time with FrontPage 2000.
Any creative suggestions and/or insights welcomed.

I looked at say
http://www.freisco.com/res/details01c.asp?id=9136 (0r 9021)

The table layout you are using seems fine
(except for users w/ monitors and screens set to < 1024 w)
It has no relationship to an "Access" type form look
- not sure what your problem
You are really asking for a Table layout tool, not a form layout tool

W/ the design view you can see or change cell properties and alignments
- don't work in a layout w/ your db ASP code, instead work your layout in a page w/ actual data 1st (then convert the values to db
fields)
- makes sure you include 2 spaces for empty cells or fields w/o results to prevent table cell collapse
- apply your fonts using style sheets instead of html formatting

IMHO
consider stacking the left table cell (w/ pic and summary) as a table over the 654 px table (w/ the MLS details) so the page is not
wider that say 750 px

Thanks for your insights Stefan.
What I'd really like would be the ability to start with a blank FP2k
page, be able to create a text block, copy this text block repeatedly,
paste each text block wherever I want on a page, size each block to my
whims, then edit the contents of each block. I do my alignments on a
field by field basis, and don't desire to be constrained with a table.
I do this very quickly and easily in Access 2000, but can't seem to do
this in FP2k w/o using tables.

I wonder if DreamWeaver would do this for me?

Thanks again for your help.
