formatting emails....

U

ummmm........

hi does anybody know if you can format your emails more precisely in
entourage (in a similar way to microsoft word etc)?
my problems come from the lack of control the user has with the
resulting email.
tabbing doesent allign with the sentances above, and their is no text
justification etc...
i know its pretty anal stuff but the resulting email can look like
shite...
cheers

In a word, no. Entourage uses either simple HTML or RTF (I don't
remember exactly which) to format "pretty" messages or plain text. If
you were to give up the option of using various fonts and colors and
stick to plain text, your tab keys would work with everything lining up.
As far as the justification... nope.

You can, though, compose your message within Word itself and send it out
as an embedded part of an Entourage message. I believe this capability
is found under the File/Send... option in Word.

Entourage uses HTML. You could choose mono-width fonts, and then they should
line up. (Plain text is no good because they would only line up in _your_
copy of Entourage or anyone else's with a mono-width font. People who use
another font - I use Verdana, for example - as their plain text font will
not see it lined up.) Mono-width fonts (Courier, Monaco, etc.) are not
generally the most beautiful, but you'd still have color, bold etc.

Right. File/Send to Mail Recipient (as Attachment).

And watch this space for new developments soon...

Bartlett, Darrell

I have been asked the question by a user, and have not found an answer, as
to how, in Entourage 2004, one can save font, size, color, background, etc,
as a default for composed messages, rather than have to set this up for each
message.

I have not found a way to save a default. Is this possible?

Thanks
Darrell

No. There are ways to save settings in a message "template" and use
alternate UI to create a new message with those settings, but there's no way
to make it so Entourage will use the settings when clicking the "New"
button.
