Formula appears not result.

I have a cell in Custom format mmmm d, yyyy. In similar cell below I try to
add one day to it: example: =E355+1. E355 being previous cell.

Instead of the result showing the Formula does. Why? This did work and
suddenly changed.

Hi
1. check if this cell is not formated as 'Text' (though this seems not
to be the problem)
2. Goto 'Tools - Options - View' and make sure 'Formulas' is not
checked
