Formulae

Hello
Relatively new user, creating spreadsheet and need to
input a formula that is something along the lines of..

depending on dates of invoices i have the shhet to display
wether they are annual or quarterly and in another cell if
it is over 3, 5 or 7 years. Each possible selection has a
different interets rate i.e 3a, 3q, 5a, 5q, 7a, 7q.

i wish the related interest rate to be dispalyed depending
on the two cells.

For example

If cell a1 shows 3 and cell a2 shows q display d3, if cell
b1 shows 5 and b2 shows a display d4. and so on so that
every eventual outcome is covered.

Any ideas. Greatly appreciate your help. John Lake

Not sure if i got your problem correctly.

But lets say if you have your years in cell A1 and the qtrs/yearly
details in cell A2, and lets say your interest table is arranged between
cells C1:D6 with C1 to C6 having 3a, 3q, 5a, 5q, 7a, 7q and D1:D6 having
the interest rates, then use this formula,

=VLOOKUP(A1&A2,$C$1:$D$6,2,FALSE)

Regards

Govind.
