Keep in mind that it is quite common to hit a firewall when using tracert,
thereby making the results worthless.

It might be your ISP. You can use ping and tracert to determine
such things...

It seems to work when I browse it from Tampa, FL. Your host looks like
they're based in Phoenix AZ. If your hops indicate 100ms right from the
getgo, then it's probably a router or other system that your ISP takes you
through. Everything looks quite congenial when I'm browsing.

Jim,

Try running a tracert on www.microsoft.com. Before you get there, it will
hit a firewall and start timing out. If by running tracert, your intent is
figure out if the route is successful, it is useless if it doesn't show you
whole route.

That should be said with some reservations... Because looking below, if
hop 6 is normally 10 to 40ms and then one day hop 6 turns into 500ms,
there's a definite problem with the machine at 66.185.136.160. It's not
completely useless, just might need some extra thought to diagnose. Things
started getting fuzzy though around the IP 207.46.34.53 below.

Just be careful using the word useless... Was it Forrest Gumpers that
said...

Useless is as useless does.

It's only useless if you don't try to be useless.

And President Bush says,
Shame on me if you call me useless once.
Shame on my mother if you call me useless twice.
Shame on you if you call me useless thrice.

But don't feel bad about using the word useless.

Ben Franklin calls the Bald Eagle useless and indicates that our
national bird should have been a real bird, a native American bird...

A turkey!

David Letterman made me say it... It makes a whole lot of
sense if you think long and hard about it. It really does!
It's only useless if you don't try to be useless.
