FP hit counter problems

Hi all...

I have several sites in a webspace, and have set them
up as sub-webs. I open a sub-web, work on it, and then
use FP's Publish feature to publish to the corresponding
subfolder in my webspace.

Do this, however, seems to break the FP hit counter feature;
numbers aren't incremented, and the associated .cnt file
in the _private folder isn't modified (I guess one implies the
other).

Any pointers on how to troubleshoot this? Should I give up
and do some kind of ASP magic?
