FP2002 search feature finds old website documents

George

I have a website that has category index page, that also
includes a search feature component. When I search for a
item, it will include item documents from older versions
of the website that no longer exist. Am I overlooking
something or doing something wrong ? How can I make the
search feature only include items from the current
published website ?

Any feedback or hints will be appreciated.

Thanx,
George

Open the site in FrontPage and recalculate the hyperlinks (Tools |
Recalculate Hyperlinks).

Thank you for the suggestion.
I did open FP and recalculated hyperlinks, republished the
website. I still was getting search results from old non-
existing web pages. I also examined the FP component error
page. The page that has the search component was giving
the error "This page contains a FP search component that
will not function properly until you publish your FP web
to a server" (?). I tried removing and reinstalling the
search component, ... and repeating the above steps. I
still was getting old page search results.
I discovered that the FP text index is cumlative, adding
new links to the index, but not removing old ones. I could
not find the index on my PC, but I think I located it on
the web sever (_vti_txt/default.wti/all.cat). I now am
manually editting this file on my PC and will reload it to
the web.
Am I on the wrong road ? Is there an easier way to
accomplish this task ?
Any feedback or direction will be appreciated.
Thanx,
George
