Freeing up space in Entourage/Exchange Server

I am working with a user who had a very large email box on the Exchange
Server. I know that you can create personal folders in Entourage that
will store the emails on the hard drive. What are some ways to back up
the emails once they are on the hard drive so that in case of a hard
drive crash we still have the emails, and they are off the exchange
server?

thanks!

Hi,

You can use the export feature of Entourage to back up mails and contacts.
This can be accessed under the Edit menu.
Once you export you can back up that database and retrieve mails later from
the same.
The backed up database will be available in HD:User
folder:Documents:Microsoft user data: Identities.

I simply move the e-mails to a mailbox in the "On my computer" section.
That deletes them from Exchange without putting them "out of reach".

Actually, the Export option is in the File menu. It might be easier to
manually back up local mail folders by dragging them from the Folder List to
the Desktop.

Alternatively, you can back up the "Microsoft User Data" folder, which will
protect all data. Just copy it to another drive. It's located here:
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/

("~" = /Users/<Your User>/)
