Freezing when Synchronizing

I have Entourage 2004 for Mac at my office. I am connected to a 2003
Exchange server running on IMAP. The issue is that every time my folders are
synchronized entourage freezes and I am unable to access any program
controls while synchronization is happening. The client freezes and the
color wheel spins. I have made sure that all synchronizations are off in my
advance account options yet it still synchronizes the account. I only have
one account set up. Once the synchronization is complete the program runs
perfectly fine. Also on occasion I will click on entourage in my dock and
the window will not show on top of all my other windows. Any feedback would
help me out a lot!

On Adavanced tab in Edit account under tools>accounts: select specific items that you want to sync with exchange server.
