I would like to set up an account with multiple addresses as I want to be
able to send messages on behalf of my boss. Is this possible and if show
how?

Yes, this is possible.
Simply create a new account (Tools Menu, "Accounts'). Put in your boss' name
& email address, the sending server details, but not the receiving server.
This will create a 'send only' account (you will get a warning when you try
to save the account info, but this is advisory, not fatal).
Now, when you create a new message, you will have a drop-down menu in the
draft message window to select who the mail is from. You can select your
'boss' account from here for those messages which need to appear as though
they have come from him.
