Hi Tom, Could you please elaborate. See I have Windows XP, home edition on my
laptop. I am not able to use FP 2000 on my laptop. On installing FP 2000, I
got a msg stating: "Unable to access configuration for MS Personal Web Serer"
followed by another message which reads as : "We recommend that you install
server extensions on your web servers. To do this run the FrontPage web
server administation tools after setup is complete." I am just starting on
FrontPage and do not understand this comment. My qerry are: 1) where do I go
for web servers - specifically, can I have web server on my laptop itself, 2)
where do I find web server administration tools and can I run them on my
laptop. Thanks for your time and look forward to yr views / advice. C.

FP 2000 is trying to install/use a personal web server. However, Windows XP
Home does not support a Windows server program, nor does it support the
server extensions.

Try doing a custom install without installing any personal web server, and
run disk based webs.

Hi Tom, Thanks for yr prompt reply.
Tried to custom install with - Server Extensions Resource Kit, Server
Extensions Admin Forms and Office Server Extensions Support – all made NOT
available; but same two messages pop up.
I notice that there exists a Personal Web Server under Odigo on my laptop.
It has something to do with internet surfing. I do not recall having ever
used it. I do not know how it is on my laptop; as far as I know it exists
since purchase of this laptop - 18 months back. I apprehend the effects it
may have on the system, if I remove it. If you know anything about Odigo, I
stand to benefit from your knowledge about it. Thanks.

I don't have any knowledge of Odigo, or what it is. Suggest you go to the
Odigo web site and search their knowledge base, or Google for the
information.

Thanks Tom, I decided to take a chance; so decided to remove Odigo. It is no
more on my machine now but Personal Web Server still remains and steps to
remove it are not successful. This is rather unusual.

Odigo appears to be some sort of instant messenger program with a built-in
web server. You may want to try visiting their web site and look around
there.
