Frontpage contact form problem - confirmation page

J

John Smith

I am having a recent problem with 2 out of the 20 sites I administer..

On the contact form ..

I normally have a thankyou page where once a message is entered and submit
(send Message) is pressed.. frontpage displays a page saying "thank you -
message sent. blah blah blah"

But on these two sites they are 1st being redirected to

Form Confirmation
Thank you for submitting the following information:

Return to the form.

Then they are taken to the thankyou form???

I have tried comparing the forms with ones that are working and can't see
any differences..

The problem form is http://www.outbackburials.com.au/contact/index.html

a working one is at http://www.netstuff.com.au/contact/index.html

I have tried reinstalling the forntpage extensions.. no change..

thanks

Rob

Hi John,

Sorry that didn't work.

Off hand, many of the form problems I see are forms either in folders and subwebs. Sometimes placing them in the root web makes a difference.

I understand the other form works, but FrontPage has a mind of it's own sometimes.

I did notice you now have extra file stuff in your file path.

.../_private/form_results.csv instead of _private/form_results.csv

You can't use absolute URLs in form properties
(the links must all be relative w/i your FP web)
You now have for the confirmation page
U-Confirmation-Url="http://www.outbackburials.com.au/contact/thankyou.htm"
Change it to
U-Confirmation-Url="thankyou.htm"

Is the folder named contact a subweb or just a folder
If it is a subweb the path to the _private folder would be
U-File="_private/form_results.csv"
If it is just a folder in the root web the path would be
U-File="../_private/form_results.csv"

Best to always use the "browse" option in Form Properties Options to select your file locations and let FP handle the paths

Two other things to check at www.outbackburials.com.au/
1) has your host enabled Email Transport at this site
- check by temporarily remove the email address and just see if it saves to file OK
2) this site sends mail to an address outside of the hosted server
(S-Email-Address="(e-mail address removed)")
- many hosts block that to prevent Email relaying
Try an email address w/i your domain

Did all that... as I said the same site has another form that is working..
it wouldn't if the mail extension weren't installed
Also tried the alternate email address.. please don't ever post anyones
email adress on these forum again.. I would have thought you would have
known about spam robots
I am sure my clients is now going to get a ton more spam...

I still see an absolute URL in the form - not allowed
U-Confirmation-Url="http://www.outbackburials.com.au/contact/thankyou.htm"

I can place a anti-spam url at the top of the page on the web that forces
them into a loop.. but this hasn't been done on a newsgroup.
