Frontpage seems to be slow

JohnF

I am teaching myself how to develop a website with Frontpage using the
tutorials and have built a website at www.sollert.com/Beta

I used the display tables to place cells at the appropriate places on the
page and inserted the buttons and jpegs into the cells

I have noticed that on downloading with IE , the various buttons load slowly
enough to see the placeholders before the image drops onto them. It looks
pretty sloppy.

Strangely enough, the site loads much faster on Firefox and it looks OK

Can you advise as to what I need to do?
Thanks

The actual images aren't that "heavy," however
view the page in code view.
You will see dozens of empty:
<td></td>
<td></td>
<td></td>
<td></td

tags

Try removing them for starters, as they will make the page render slowly.

Steve: He is also pre-loading images. That could take a little extra time.

Hi Steve, Tom

Thanks for your rapid responses.
If I take all the <td></td> out the objects on the page get out of position.
Also, as Frontpage put them in in the first place, I must be using Frontpage
badly.

I interpreted the advice from the tutorial in putting an object like a
button at (x,y) on the page as
a) to draw a layout table the size of the page - i.e. a playing area
b) put a cell onto the page with top left at (x,y)
c) put the cursor into the cell
d) insert object

Tom also notes that I am preloading the images. I'm so so new to this game I
don't know that means. How do I get round it
