frontpage slide show hangs up

I can't seem to get the photo gallery function to work. I can get three of
the four to start up but the slide show function (which I want to use) won't
get past the 'add pictures' screen. It locks when I press 'OK' the
'Generating thumbnails' window appears, the green bar goes to the right and
that's it! I can't cancel it, only use the 'X' to delete the window.
Cntl-alt-del when the 'generating thumbnails' window is open only says
program can't be ended as the program waiting for response. I'm in the
testing phase so I only tried to load 2 jpg images.
I'm using FrontPage 2003 with Windows XP service pack2
I see lots of problems with the gallery function but none like this.

Did you Import them into FP first, before trying to create the gallery?
Do you have your website opened and not just a loose page?

I have a website opened and am at the index.htm page.
I didn't import the pics first. I simply added them using the gallery
window. I'm not sure what you mean by import. Should the pics be loaded
into the Photogallery or Image page? If so, how? I tried but those folders
won't allow insertion of pictures from files.

Thank you for the link.
I checked out this link and tried the Jalbum and Picasa2
Unfortunately neither will allow me to add any significant amount of text to
a photo and keep it in a nice paragraph format. I can add captions but if
they are of any lenght they scroll off to the right.
If possible I'm going to try to get Front page's slide show to work. I paid
good money for the product and would like to use it if possible. It seems
that other folks can get it working to some degree so I'm hopefully going to
give it a go with the help of folks on the Discussion Group.

Yes, Import them first.
File | Import ,,, Add File
Import them into your Images folder by having the IMages folder selected
before you do the above.

I then went to the images folder when I added files for the slide show.]

Very frustrating
I'm definately not holding my mouth just right when I do it <LOL>

Download and run Steve Easton's FP cleaner:
http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm maybe you've got some bugs stuck
in the drain pipe.
