Frontpage Web Components

B

Brad

Hello,

I am developing a web component to handle inserting the
HTML and ASP tags that are specific to our product. At the
moment though I am concerned with distributing this
package to clients as there appear to be some differences
in where the files need to go between Frontpage 2002 and
2003. Has anyone had any experience with delivering a web
component and what would you suggest regarding this
situation, a windows installer, self extracting zip,
another solution? Thank you for your time.

Define "web component." Both "web" and "component" are generic terms, which
could mean any number of things.

I am referring to Web Components like the Hit Counters and
MSN Weather items that you access by going to Insert -->
Web Component. I am writing my own family of components to
go into that menu and am concerned about deploying the
files used to create that. Thanks.

FYI - The Microsoft Windows Installer is available free and is now
actually an open source initiative.

Hi Brad,

More information is required to answer your question. It would be possible
that you'll have to install a couple of locations.

I concur that the Windows Installer program, API, basic utility programs are free but they are difficult to use and time consuming.
Most commercial packages are created using InstallShield or Wise
