General Approach to co-authoring large doc

We are converting an approximately 600 page doc from
RoboHelp to Word. Two authors will need to clean up, and
format. How can we best work together? I've never been
sucessful with master/sub docs, and have read absolutely
nasty things about using them. So what option does that
leave for collaboration on a large doc?

Also, are there any issues with large numbers of page refs
in a large document?

As I understand it (because we're in the same situation as we convert from
WordPerfect) the includetext field may be the next-best way to handle this.
Please let us know here if you find out different.
