Get at the data in Microsoft Project from Crystal Reporting

P

PDM

Let me begin by stating that I am barely familiar with any version of
Microsoft Project. Although I don't use it, I have been tasked with
determining if the data for a project can be accessed via Crystal reports.

I have been told that it is but I cannot figure out how to find the data
base. What type of database connection would I need to access it?

If it is available, is it only with Project Server or can I access the data
within Standard or Professional Project, either 2003 or 2007 versions?

Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Crystal Reports can only access data if all projects are stored in a
database. Any ODBC database will do. Project's own .mpd database format is
in fact Access .mdb format. SQL Server also works well.

Any version can save to db. In one of Projects program folders, look for
pjdb.htm. It has a schema for the database and has all information needed
for using it.
